These all are scams... They want to maintain the illogically high prices of properties and thus keep the ponzi scheme keep going.. And they use tax payers' money for all these nonsense... What the government should have done is a few things... 1. Have CGT discount only for investment above 4 years.. just investing for above an year and get away with 50% CGT discount was definitely a sham started by some politicians who wanted to screw up housing for their own gains, and not for the greater good of the country.. 2. Limit negative gearing with both a percentage and as well with a fixed amount limit ( whichever is lower) 3. Have banking regulation such that interest only home loans rate be doubled ( a separate cash rate for this) since it carry a lot of risks, and is being misused to inflate property prices. 4. Block the incessant flow of illicit / black money from abroad including that or cambodia and china. If such steps are done, we will start seeing the actual property prices, and then it can be seen that people with legitimate white money can buy first home WITHOUT any tax payer funded initiatives. Do you agree all these are sham tactics to keep an illicit ponzi scheme keep going ?

A small correction..In QLD no stampduty is only applicable for vacant land under $ 350000.. stamp duty concession available for land upto & 500000
